A two-month cruise circling the Australian Coast has been cancelled in the wake of the death of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the ship on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but parted ways from the party for a pause. The ship sailed away leaving her and went back later that day after the personnel discovered the passenger was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt discovered her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with investigators and the official investigator.

Head of the cruise operator stated that guests and crew on the Coral Adventurer were told that the remainder of the cruise had been called off due to the "sad loss and prior mechanical issues".
