Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
