All Fans Are Invited to Join as the Fourth Haim Sisters Bandmate.
"When are you chatting with the Haim sisters?" an inquiry reads. "I wanted to ask if I can be their extra sister."
However, there remains a single issue: I also desires to be Haim's newest recruit. Furthermore, we are not alone. A host of high-profile admirers have openly begged for the honor.
The evidence suggests an irresistible appeal is going on. The siblings Este, Danielle and Alana launched their path doing sets at local delicatessens with their family. Today, they are multi-time Grammy Award contenders.
Like all the best ensembles, they're a inseparable gang. Their videos frequently show them marching in harmony down the streets of Los Angeles. On stage, they play with such pure joy you inevitably think, "I wish to be a piece of that, too."
"The numerous instances on tour that audience members approached us and said, 'Seeing you perform, I got a drum kit'," says Alana, the most junior of the trio. "That's the ultimate compliment. That is recognition in itself. Our mission is accomplished if we can inspire people to make music."

Historic Recognition
The group have called into a break, where they're recovering after an extensive tour in promoting their fourth album, I Quit.
They're currently reeling from the news it's been nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammys – with Haim the first all-woman band ever in consideration for the award.
"I follow the nominations every year, so it kind of feels like The Truman Show when your name is read out," says Alana. "I needed to phone my sisters to say, 'Did we just hear this correctly or am I imagining things'?"
The weight of the nomination is deeply felt by the band.
"We deliberately set out to make a rock record this time, so it's a huge milestone," says Alana. "However we're just grateful for the pioneers that paved the way."
Emotional Upheaval and Candor
The album came out of a phase of transition. All three sisters found themselves single, and the music explores that unique in-between place where you're glad to be free, but not yet ready to let go.
The words follow departures and farewells. The sisters seek love, but not the kind of love they've experienced. You can hear them working out in real life who they aspire to be.
"I adore summary, yes," responds Danielle. "I Quit is kind of like a personal statement. You have to make an effort in ignoring the noise and saying, 'I don't give what people think'."
Development of Sound
That developed confidence demanded a new sound – more organic and immediate than any of the music the band had done before.
For Danielle, who co-produced the album, that was founded on the drum sound.
"Percussion is such a nuanced thing, and I focus so intensely about it," she says.
"'Journey of the drum sound' will be the subject of our memoir," jokes Alana. "Our motto is, our albums won't commence until we find the perfect drum sound."
Anecdotes and Collective Laughter
The trio's openness shaped the album's rollout, where the sisters revealed some of their romantic horror stories.
A former partner ended things with Este over a health concern. Alana shared a story of travelling to celebrate New Year's Eve with someone, only to receive a high five at midnight.
"When you're going through these breakups, you just feel like there's only darkness," notes Alana. "So to be able to laugh at those stories and hear others tell you more outrageous stories, it's therapeutic."
A Confident Path
You can clearly sense a evolution in the band. These days, Haim are more confident of their position in the rock pantheon.
They're major draws, with successful albums and an international fan base.
Yet Haim will forever be their number one priority.
"My sisters and I have been playing music since I was a young child," says Alana. "It's like nothing else that we were meant to do. And I'm really grateful we've gotten here and we're still going strong."
